Seydoux, Brisebois and Montgomery
ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, signed Philippe Seydoux, Francois Brisebois and Mike Montgomery to standard player contracts for the 2011-12 season.
Seydoux was a third-round pick of the Ottawa Senators (#100 overall) and was most recently a part of the Calgary Flames organization. Seydoux began his career in 2002 with the Kloten Flyers of the Swiss-A league, the top professional hockey league in Switzerland. The 26-year-old defenseman has since appeared in 274 Swiss-A contests split between three teams – the Kloten Flyers, HC Fribourg-Gotteron, and EHC Biel. He also had a brief six-game stint with HPK Hameenlinna of Finland’s top tier league, SM-liiga. Seydoux recorded 69 points (17g, 52a) and 307 penalty minutes in 280 international contests.
The Bern, Switzerland native has also represented his home country at the World Junior Championships.
Brisebois played with Colgate University of the Eastern College Athletic Conference between 2007 and 2011. He appeared in 145 games for Colgate - including a run of 116 straight contests - recording 86 points (40g, 46a) and 94 penalty minutes in his four-year college career.
The 23-year-old Montreal native led the Colgate squad in scoring with 34 points on 17 goals and 17 assists in his senior year and managed to squeeze in three AHL games with the Binghamton Senators at the end of the 2010-11 season.
Montgomery, 25, joins the Reign from the WCHA’s University of Minnesota-Duluth, where he played for four years, accumulating 38 points (4g, 34a). He will join former Duluth teammate Travis Gawryletz, who signed with the Reign earlier this month.
Prior to playing for U. of Minnesota-Deluth, the Lino Lakes, Minnesota native spent two seasons in the NAHL with the Southern Minnesota Express where he recorded 78 points (39g, 39a) and only 20 penalty minutes.
The Reign’s regular season opener is Friday, October 14, 2011. Individual tickets are on sale now at Citizens Business Bank Arena's box office or online at ontarioreign.com.
