Reign Fall to Wranglers 4-2 in Preseason Action
Bill Bagron and Kyle Kraemer Each Net Goals for Ontario
ONTARIO, Calif. – The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, fell to the Las Vegas Wranglers, 4-2, before a crowd of 4,728 at Citizens Business Bank Arena Saturday night.
The Reign and Wranglers were scoreless after the first period, but Ontario’s special teams play generated two quick goals early in the second. With a Las Vegas player in the box, goaltender Joe Fallon gave up a long rebound to center Bill Bagron who promptly fired the puck into the net to give the Reign a 1-0 lead at 1:49. Dylan Yeo and Travis Gawryletz picked up assists. Kyle Kraemer added a short-handed goal just over two minutes later. Kraemer corralled the puck at the Reign blue line and raced down the ice on a two-on-one with Geoff Irwin. He gave a deceptive look towards Irwin and snapped the puck past Fallon on the short side to make it 2-0 Reign at 3:53. The goal was unassisted.
But the Wranglers evened the score at two with a Ned Lukacevic power-play goal at 10:12 and an even-strength goal by Michael Busto at 18:45.
The stalemate continued until 16:45 of the third period when Judd Blackwater put the Wranglers ahead 3-2. Adam Miller capped off the scoring for Las Vegas at 18:36 to make the final score Wranglers 4, Reign 2.
Fallon earned the win with 21 saves on 23 shots, while Weslosky took the loss with 28 saves on 32 shots.
