Reign Fall to Aces, 8-4
Stretch Extends Point Streak to Six Games in Loss
Anchorage, AK – The Ontario Reign (5-3-1-0), proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, lost 8-4 to the Alaska Aces (8-3-0-0) before 5,271 at Sullivan Arena Friday night.
Ontario and Alaska were tied 2-2 late in the first period, as the Reign’s C.J. Stretch and J.P. Cote traded goals with the Aces’ Nick Mazzolini and Ethan Cox. Steve Ward and Cox added goals to give the Aces a 4-2 lead at the first intermission.
Vincent LoVerde tallied the first goal of his professional career at 7:02 of the second period to pull Ontario within a goal, but Cox registered his third goal of the game minutes later and Scott Howes added a goal to give Alaska a 6-3 lead at the break.
Dusty Carlson relieved Jean-Francois Berube in net to start the third frame. Zach Harrison and Dan Kissel scored for the Aces and Stretch recorded his second goal of the game to make the final score Alaska 8, Ontario 4.
Gerald Coleman (8-3-0) won it with 17 saves on 21 shots. Carlson saved nine of the 11 shots he faced and Berube (1-3-1) took the loss with 16 saves on 22 shots.
Stretch's three points (2g, 1a) gives him 12 points (6g, 6a) in his last six games.
