Reign Blank Steelheads, 5-0
Carrozzi Earns Second Shutout of the Season

BOISE, Idaho- The Ontario Reign (18-12-1-2), proud affiliate of the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings,  shut out the Idaho Steelheads (15-16-2-1)  5-0 before 4,130 at CenturyLink Arena Saturday despite being outshot 33-23.  Carrozzi's second shutout of the season was the Reign's fourth, matching the team’s single-season shutout record of both the 2008-09 and 2009-10 squads.  Kyle Kraemer extended his point streak to four games with a goal and two assists.

The Reign picked up where they left off Friday, scoring 1:30 into play and furthering their lead to 2-0 by the end of the first period.  Bill Bagron got enough of his stick on Francois Brisebois’ wrist shot to deflect the puck past Jerry Kuhn to start the Reign scoring.  Kraemer one-timed a pass from Steven Tarasuk for his first power-play goal of the season at 15:21.

Tarasuk added a marker of his own 3:41 into the second frame to chase Kuhn from the Idaho net for the second time in two nights.  Thomas Speer took over for Kuhn and gave up the first goal of his professional career to Brisebois who threaded a shot between the pads of the rookie goaltender at 18:06.  Kraemer assisted on both goals.

Tristan King notched a power-play goal at 8:39 of the third period, as Speer stopped Chris Huxley’s point shot and King swept the rebound into the cage for his third goal of the series.

The Reign allowed only one goal and registered two shutouts in three games this week and are 5-0-1 in their last six contests.  Idaho faced a challenge similar to that of Ontario when they were short-staffed recently, as five of the Steelheads' top offensive players were either promoted to the AHL, injured, or left to play in Europe.

Chris Carrozzi (4-4-2) stopped all 33 shots in the win, while Kuhn (10-12-3) took the loss with 8 saves on 11 shots.
Speer stopped 10 of the 12 shots he faced in relief.

Three stars:

2) ONT - Kyle Kraemer
3) IDH - Jacob Cepis
