Ontario rolls to six-game unbeaten streak
The Ontario Reign won all three of their games last week, outscoring their opponents 16-1 in the process, to extend their unbeaten streak to six games (5-0-1). Ontario sits in second place of the Pacific Division with a record of 18-12-3 for 39 points.
Ontario opened the week with a 6-0 win against Bakersfield on Tuesday. C.J. Stretch led the way offensively with two goals and an assist while Brady Calla (0g-2a), Derek Couture (0g-2a) and Kevin Estrada (1g-1a) each chipped in with two points. Jean-Francois Berube stopped all 15 Condors’ shots to record his second shutout of the season.
Friday in Idaho, the Reign fired 41 shots on goal on their way to a 5-1 win over the Steelheads. Tristan King supplied three points (2g-1a) while Steven Tarasuk had a pair of assists for Ontario. Berube turned aside 25 shots to earn his second straight win.
The Reign ended the week with a 5-0 win against the Steelheads on Saturday. Five different players tallied goals for Ontario, and King notched his second straight two-point game with a goal and an assist. Chris Carrozzi stopped all 33 Idaho shots to record his second shutout of the season.
Stretch leads the Reign, and is tied for fifth in the league, with 38 points (16g-22a), while Berube and Carrozzi are tied for fifth among goaltenders with two shutouts. Tarasuk ranks seventh among defensemen with 21 points (3g-18a), and is third among blueliners with 11 power-play assists.
Ontario meets Las Vegas three times this week, hosting the Wranglers on Wednesday before heading to Las Vegas for games on Friday and Saturday. The Reign trail the Wranglers by seven points for the top spot in the Pacific Division.
