Zatkoff And Martens Return To Reign
Ryan MacGregor Placed on 7-day and Kellen Briggs Placed on 3-day IR
ONTARIO, Calif. – The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings and the AHL Manchester Monarchs announced today that goaltender Jeff Zatkoff has been reassigned by the Los Angeles Kings from the Manchester Monarchs, and defenseman Andrew Martens has been returned on loan from the Manitoba Moose.
Zatkoff, 21, rejoins the Reign after being recalled by the Manchester Monarchs on December 17. While with the club, Zatkoff appeared in three games posting a 1-2-0 record, a .918 save-percentage and 2.31 goal-against average. While playing with the Monarchs, Zatkoff managed to continue to stay near the top performers amongst ECHL goaltenders, holding 3rd place in overall save-percentage with .934 and 8th in goals-against average with 2.31.
While with the Reign, the Detroit, Michigan native was named the RBK Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for October 20-26 and recorded his first professional shutout on December 15, in a, 1-0, win against the Las Vegas Wranglers in their annual Midnight match-up. He was named to the 2009 National Conference All-Star team and will join Reign teammates Tim Kraus and Geoff Walker in Reading, Penn., at the All-Star competition next week.
Martens, 27, was leading the Reign in scoring and was tenth amongst ECHL defensemen with 16 points, tallying 3 goals and 13 assists before he was called up to the Manitoba Moose on December 9. He registered a 3-game assist streak (3a) from December 3-6 and accumulated a +4 rating in 23 games with the Reign.
The Friendswood, Texas native registered five assists for five points and six penalty minutes in 11 games with the Manitoba Moose in his first professional call-up.
Zatkoff and Martens will meet up with the Reign in Phoenix tonight as they take on the Roadrunners at US Airways Center at 6:05 p.m. (PST).

The Reign are back at Citizens Business Bank Arena in a two-game back-to-back homestand against the Utah Grizzlies on Friday, January 16, and Saturday, January 17. Doors open at 6 p.m. and puck drops at 7 p.m. for both games.
