Sal Peralta Records First Point As Member of Reign
LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings, fell to the Las Vegas Wranglers, 5-1, on Saturday night before 6,019 fans at Orleans Arena.
After a scoreless first period, center Jeff Hazelwood put the puck into the bottom right corner of the net to give Las Vegas the first goal of the game. Left wings Ned Lukacevic and Shay Stephenson registered the assists on the goal.
The third period was all about the Wranglers, as they scored four unanswered goals, with three crossing the goal line in the first four minutes of the final period. Ned Lukacevic found the back of the net with an assist from Jeff Hazelwood, and both players found their second points of the night only eight seconds into the period. They switched places at 2:19, with Hazelwood scoring his second goal and third point of the night and Lukacevic assisting to record his third point of the game.
At 3:47, right wing Mick Lawrence gave the Wranglers a four-goal lead over the Reign when he netted a shorthanded goal with assist from defenseman Jason Krischuk and forward Kyle Hagel. Ned Lukacevic picked up his second goal and fourth point of the game at 10:09 when he received a feed from center Adam Miller in front of the net and chipped the puck up and over Ontario netminder Curtis Darling.
Wranglers goaltender Michael Ouzas made 41 saves in the match, but center Jon Francisco got one by with just over two minutes remaining in regulation when he slid the puck around the goalie who was down on the ice, trying to make the save. Center Robert Pearce claimed an assist along with forward Sal Peralta, who marked his first point as member of the Reign since his trade from Kalamazoo on January 2.
Las Vegas claimed the win in the final match of a back-to-back series between the clubs with a final score of Wranglers 5, Reign 1.
