Stephane Goulet Nets Six Points In Bakersfield Victory
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings, was shut out by the Bakersfield Condors, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon at Rabobank Arena before a crowd of 3,955.
Less than a minute after the opening face-off, forward Matt Pope scored the Condors’ first goal of the night when he found the empty net with a shot from the top front of the crease. Winger Stephane Goulet and forward Adam Naglich claimed the assists on the opening goal.
Midway through the first period, defenseman Eric Regan wristed the puck through traffic from the top of the left circle off assists from center Mathieu Aubin and Goulet, who tallied his second point on the power play goal. Right wing Erick Lizon extended the Condors’ lead to three with his backhander from the slot at 15:23.
Stephane Goulet scored his third point of the night and the only goal in the middle frame at 9:14, and the clubs headed into the final period with Ontario trailing Bakersfield, 4-0.
The Condors added three more goals to their total in the final period and Ontario sent Mike Zacharias to the crease after Curtis Darling let in his fifth goal. Stephane Goulet brought his game total to six points with another goal and an assist on Matt Pope’s third tally of the game, a wrister from the slot that beat Zacharias high on his glove side. Tyler Sims recorded a shutout in his first game with the team since being claimed off waivers on Friday and Bakersfield took the two points with a final score of Condors 7, Reign 0.
