Reign Beat Wild To Take On Everblades In Logo Contest
Reign Advance to Elite 8 in The Hockey News Logo Contest; Voting Ends Sept. 22
ONTARIO, Calif. – The Ontario Reign of the ECHL, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings and the AHL Manchester Monarchs, announced today that in an on-line logo contest held by The Hockey News the Reign beat the Minnesota Wild 55% to 45% to advance to th e Elite 8.
The Hockey News, a publication that provides complete coverage of the hockey world, is in the midst of a two-month Ultimate Logo contest that matches teams against each other to determine the best hockey logo in North America.
The Reign are in a heated battle as they take on ECHL rival Florida Everblades, going head-to-head in the single-elimination competition. Tensions are high as the Reign and Everblades jockey back-and-forth for control of the lead. The winner of this match-up will take on the winner of the Chicago Blackhawks versus Rimouski Oceanic faceoff to advance to the Final 4.
The Reign have advanced to the Elite 8 and needs fans help to continue! Voting for the Elite 8 ends at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, September 22. Each week, fan votes will determine which logos advance until a single, ultimate logo is determined.

Began in 1988-89 with five teams playing in four states, the Premier ‘AA’ Hockey League has grown into a coast-to-coast league that will have 23 teams in 16 states and British Columbia playing 828 games from Oct. 17, 2008 to Apr. 4, 2009. Eighteen of the 23 teams have played at least five years in their current city.
The third-longest tenured professional hockey league behind only the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League, the ECHL averaged 4,174 per game last season, marking the fourth year in row and the 16th time in the last 18 years that the league has averaged over 4,000 fans. The league has drawn over four million fans each of the last five years and 11 times in the past 12 seasons.
