Justin Taylor Tallies Two Assists for Reign
ONTARIO, Calif. – The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, lost to Las Vegas before 5,917 fans at Citizens Business Bank Arena on Wednesday.
The Wranglers got out to an early 3-0 lead in the first period with power play goals by Jamie Bates and Matt Price, while Dan Bertram notched an even-strength goal at 6:34. The Reign got in the game at 11:43 with an unassisted goal by Dusty Collins. Collins sped down the left-side boards from the Ontario end to the Las Vegas doorstep and fired a snap shot past Michael Ouzas to cut the Wranglers’ lead to 3-1.
Ontario had a chance to get closer midway through the second when Kevin Schaeffer was called for holding, but Las Vegas turned the tables with a short-handed goal by Tyler Mosienko to extend their lead to 4-1. The Reign regrouped and Jordan Morrison one-timed a pass from Justin Taylor into the net for his fourth goal of the season as the penalty to Schaeffer expired.
Chaz Johnson netted his fifth goal of the season in the third period, but Vegas added three goals of its own to leave town with a 7-3 win. Las Vegas finished with 26 shots, while the Reign finished with 15.
