REIGN FALL TO CONDORS IN SHOOTOUT, 5-4
Goal and Assist Give Collymore Nine Points in Five Games

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, lost 5-4 to the Bakersfield Condors in a shootout before a crowd of 4,811 at Rabobank Arena Friday night.

Shawn Collymore extended his point streak to five games with his 16th goal of the season just 46 seconds into the game.  David Walker's assist on the play also extended his point streak to five games.

Michael Gergen and Joel Broda scored goals at 6:33 and 7:42 of the second period to give the Condors a 2-1 lead.

Chaz Johnson scored his sixth goal in his last six games to tie the game at two at 4:04 of the third period and Aaron Lewadniuk gave the Reign a 3-2 lead just 27 seconds later on his 12th goal of the season.  The Condors tied it at three on a goal by Andrew Ianiero at 5:52 before Brett O’Malley’s goal at 10:09 again gave the Reign a one-goal lead, 4-3.  Shawn Collymore’s shot hit Bakersfield goaltender Brian Stewart in the shoulder, went straight up into the air and came down in the crease where O’Malley knocked it home.  However, with Stewart on the bench for the extra attacker, Broda scored at 18:59 to send the game into overtime.

Beau Erickson made five of his 49 saves in overtime and the game went to a shootout, where the Condors prevailed.  It took all five rounds, but Stephane Goulet scored the lone goal to give Bakersfield a 5-4 victory.

Erickson stopped 49 of the 53 shots he faced in team play and four of five shootout attempts, but suffered the loss.  Stewart earned the win with 23 saves and did not allow any shootout goals.

Tonight’s three stars were:

1) BAK – Joel Broda
2) BAK – Vyacheslav Trukhno
3) BAK – Michael Gergen
