LOS ANGELES, CA – The Los Angeles Kings, NHL affiliate of the Ontario Reign, have assigned goaltender Peter Budaj to Ontario. Additionally, forward Gabriel Vilardi has been assigned to Ontario on a conditioning stint.
The 36-year-old Budaj (born Sept. 18, 1982) is a 6-1, 196-pound native of Banska Bystrica, Slovakia who has appeared in three games this season for Kings, posting an 0-1-0 record. Budaj is also 1-2-0 in three starts with Ontario and is the Reign’s all-time leader in victories with 43.
The 19-year-old Vilardi (born August 16, 1999) is a 6-3, 201-pound native of Kingston, Ontario. The forward was drafted by the Kings in the first-round (11th overall) in the 2017 NHL Draft. He played for three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Windsor Spitfires and the Kingston Frontenacs. In 143 regular-season games he posted 157 points (68-89=157), a plus-27 rating and 40 penalty minutes.
