Cedar Park, TX – Forward Adrian Kempe grabbed a power-play goal in the second period, but the Texas Stars (4-3-1-0) squeaked past the Ontario Reign (2-1-2-0) 2-1 in overtime at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park Saturday night.

Stars forward Remi Elie opened the scoring late in the first period, knocking a rebound past the right pad of Reign goaltender Jonah Imoo (15 saves on 16 shots) at 14:24.
In the second period, the Reign flipped the momentum and outshot the Stars 16-4 and capitalized on the power play at 4:35 when forward Adrian Kempe snapped in his first goal of the season off the right-wing circle. Defenseman Kevin Gravel and forward Michael Mersch added assists.
The Stars pushed back in the third period with help from timely power plays late in the frame to setup a 5-on-3 advantage at the start of overtime. Forward Matej Stransky buried the opportunity 38 seconds into the extra session for the victory. Earlier in the period, goaltender Jack Flinn replaced an injured Imoo and suffered the loss, making eight save on nine shots in 16 minutes of work. Phil Desrosiers earned the victory making 34 saves on 35 shots. The Reign finished the game 1-for-3 on the power play while the Stars went 1-for-9.
The Ontario Reign continue a season-high five-game road trip tomorrow, Sunday, October 30 against the San Antonio Rampage at 1:00 p.m. PT at AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas. The journey wraps up against the Tucson Roadrunners in Tucson, Arizona (November 4-5). The Reign return home to Citizens Business Bank Arena on Wednesday, November 9 to host the San Antonio Rampage at 7:00 p.m. PT. Buy Tickets
