ONTARIO, CA – The Ontario Reign, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, announced today that they have joined in the Kings’ efforts to honor the victims of Wednesday’s tragic event in Thousand Oaks.
All proceeds from the 50/50 raffle at Sunday’s game against the Stockton Heat will benefit the Ventura County Community Foundation. The foundation has partnered with several other organizations to establish the Conejo Valley Victims Fund, which is raising money for the victims and families from the shooting. The Ontario Reign players, coaches and staff have also pledged a donation from the team, which will be included in the total raised.
“This is a horrible event, another senseless act of incredible violence and it clearly hits home here with us again as Thousand Oaks is part of our community,” Kings President Luc Robitaille said. “We are thankful to the first responders and everyone who has been helping the victims and their loved ones. We definitely will do our part to help the community but more importantly we want to help amplify the message that enough is enough. We cannot accept these incidents as a new reality.”
Prior to Sunday’s game, the Reign will hold a moment of silence in memory of the victims and their families. Additionally, the Hope Reigns Foundation will have a donation box at the Hope Reigns Table at the main concourse throughout Sunday’s game.
The Ontario Reign are in the midst of their 2018-19 season, their fourth as members of the American Hockey League.
