“He’s had a great year for us,” commented Head Coach Mike Stothers of Campbell’s shutout.

“It’s not so much about the shutouts, but the wins. He gets the job done for us. For as well as I thought we played in front of him, he still had to make some tough saves.”

Campbell was tested early on by Tucson, turning away all 11 shots faced in the opening period. His sharp performance in the net helped set the tone for his teammates who got things going after Hensick scored eight seconds into the power play. The veteran blasted a backhanded shot past netminder Adin Hill at 4:13 unassisted for his 12th goal of the season. Hensick now has six points in the last six games (one goal, five assists). Ontario looked to increase their lead, tacking on 10 shots throughout the frame, but Hill came up with some big late-period stops to keep it a one-goal game.

In the middle stanza, Hensick picked up his second point of the night at 6:58, ripping a nifty pass to forward Sean Backman to make it 2-0. Forward Patrick Bjorkstrand registered the secondary assist.

Coach Stothers felt the entire team gave a solid 60-minute performance: “The guys were dialed in, they were focused. Every line that climbed over the boards was determined to do the job that they needed to do.”

Forward Mike Amadio increased the Reign lead in the third period, firing a shot past Hill at 3:28. Forward Brett Sutter and defenseman Zach Leslie picked up the assists. The frame was highlighted by a stout performance by Campbell. The netminder came away with a few solid stops after two Reign turnovers to keep Ontario up by three. Tucson outshot Ontario, 9-2, with eight minutes left to play, but could not find the back of the net.
