Reign Put Point Streak on the Line Today in San Jose

Ontario, CA – The Ontario Reign, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL), visit the San Jose Barracuda today at 1:15 p.m. PT. Today is the second of eight meetings between the two clubs this season.

Reign Rolling:

The Ontario Reign enter today’s contest on a five-game point streak. Game 2 of the point streak was a 4-2 victory over San Jose on November 1 at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Milestone for Sutter:

Forward and team captain Brett Sutter looks to skate in his 750 professional game today. Through 749 games, the Viking, Alberta, native has 123 goals and 177 assists for 300 points.

Moving Pieces:

This week, forwards Andrew Crescenzi (Tues., Nov. 14) and Jonny Brodzinski (Thurs., Nov. 16) were called up to the Kings and forward Mike Amadio (Thurs., Nov. 16) was assigned to the Reign. The Reign also added forward Cory Ward (Fri., Nov. 17) on a professional tryout agreement.

Mighty Mersch:

Forward Michael Mersch has one goal and two assists in his last two games and three goals and five assists in his last six contests.

Defense Stepping Up:

In their first six contests, the Reign defense allowed 22 goals while scoring only eight. During the five-game point streak, the opposition has scored eight goals while the Reign lit the lamp 14 times.

Scouting the Barracuda:

Rookie forward Rudolfs Balcers is tied for seventh among fist-year AHL players with 11 points (one goal, 10 assists) and has five assists over his last three games. Forward Daniel O’Regan leads the Barracuda overall with 12 points (six goals, six assists) and enters today’s game on a four-game point streak (one goal, four assists). Forward Marcus Sorensen has four goals and an assist in his last three games including a hat trick on November 5 vs. Texas.
