ONTARIO, CA – The Ontario Reign, proud AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, have signed goaltender Michael Leighton to a professional try out (PTO).
The 37-year-old Leighton (born May 19, 1981) is a 6-3, 185-pound native of Petrolia, Ontario. Leighton has appeared in 111 career NHL games with Chicago, Philadelphia, Carolina and Nashville, in addition to 16 games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Leighton has also skated in parts of 14 AHL seasons, spending time in 11 different AHL cities. Leighton is a five-time AHL All-Star, coming as recently as 2017, and won the Baz Bastien Memorial Award in 2008, awarded to the AHL’s Best Goaltender.
