Ontario's Kelly Cup Drive Begins in Idaho
Watch party at Boston's this Wednesday night at 6:10 p.m.
 
ONTARIO, Calif.- The Ontario Reign, 2011-12 Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, announce their first round playoff schedule against the Idaho Steelheads.  The Reign are making their second Kelly Cup Playoff appearance in just four seasons.

The Reign head to Idaho for the first two of a potential five quarterfinal games against the Steelheads, for their first ever post-season matchup.  The first game will be played on Tuesday, April 3 at 6:10 p.m. PDT, the following night, Wednesday, April 4; the second game will be played at 6:10 p.m. PDT at CenturyLink Arena.

Boston's Gourmet Pizza will be hosting the first playoff watch party on Wednesday, April 4 at 6:10 p.m.  There will be Happy Hour specials available until 7:00 p.m. so be sure to arrive early to get a seat and take advantage of their great deals.  Boston's Restaurant is located at 4th and Milliken in Rancho Cucamonga.

Both teams will make the trip back to Ontario for the third game on Friday, April 6 at 7:00 p.m. PDT.  If necessary, the fourth and fifth games of the series will be played in Ontario on Saturday, April 7 at 6:00 p.m. PDT and Monday, April 9 at 7:00 p.m. PDT.

This season the Reign are 6-1-0-0 against the Steelheads, including two shutout victories, one shoot-out win, and three regulation, one-goal decided games.  Ontario outscored Idaho 30 goals to 13 this season, 11 of which were on the man-advantage in six of the seven contests.

Ontario boasted the most successful penalty-killing unit finishing the season at 87.5 percent, with Bill Bagron tying for the league lead of five shorthanded goals.  The Reign earned their highest overall plus/minus rating in franchise history with a +78.  Rookie defenseman, Vincent LoVerde, lead the team with a +14, setting a new club record.  In the last regular season game, Derek Couture tied the most single-season points by a Reign player earning his 59th point of the season.  Couture also broke the franchise record for most power-play goals this season with 13.  Kyle Kraemer broke another Reign record taking the lead for all-time power-play goals over his two-seasons with the Reign with 17.
