Reign Announce First Signing of 2012-13 Season
Forward Kyle Kraemer looks to continue success in Ontario
ONTARIO, Calif. – The Ontario Reign, 2011-12 Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL’s 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, announce they have re-signed forward Kyle Kraemer for the 2012-13 season.
Head coach and director of hockey operations, Jason Christie, said, "It's good to have Kyle back with his come-out season last year and to have him build off what he accomplished."
Kraemer, 27, is the first to return to the Reign from last year’s Pacific Division Championship winning team. The 5-foot-10, 188 pound, St. Louis, MO native recorded a total of 58 points (25g, 32a) in just 57 games; a professional, career-high. He led the team with five shootout goals and tied for the team’s lead in assists with 32. Kraemer earned Ontario’s all-time record for consecutive points last season with a 14-game point streak that lasted from Jan. 30, 2012 through Feb. 25, 2012.
"I’m very excited to join the Reign organization for another season," Kraemer said. "We have the best fans in the league and [Ontario] feels like home for me. From the coaching staff to the trainers to the front office, it’s all first class."
"He's a guy that can definitely take his game to the next level. Obviously his goal is to keep going up; to the American League and NHL and we're excited to have that focus. He sustained a pretty hard hit in the year and he got himself healthy and ready to move on for next year," Christie said.
This will be the forward’s third season with the Reign. He first signed with the team for the 2010-11 season in which he was the leading rookie scorer with 37 points (16 g, 21a). Kraemer made his professional debut with the ECHL’s Kalamazoo Wings at the end of the 2009-10 season where he played two games with the club.
Prior to turning pro, Kraemer played at Northeastern University where in his final year he finished the season tying for the lead with 28 points (17g, 11a). He lead the team in goals with 17 as well as in powerplay goals with eight. During his four years with the team he recorded 65 points (29g, 36a) in 119 games.
Kraemer represented the United States at the 2010 IIHF InLine Hockey World Championship in Karlstad, Sweden when they won the gold medal. He returned to the team for the 2011 World Championship in Pardubice, Czech Republic where they earned a silver medal.
