2012 Kings Draft Pick Makes Pro Debut with Reign
Nick Ebert bolsters blue line
ONTARIO, Calif. – The Ontario Reign, back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL’s 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, announced that Kings 2012 draft pick Nick Ebert will make his professional debut with the Reign Friday night in Idaho.
Selected in the seventh round, #211 overall, Ebert joins the Reign after concluding his junior career with the Windsor Spitfires, a team he spent three seasons playing with. The 18-year-old from Livingston, NJ was the Spitfires’ leading defenseman with 38 points (11g, 27a) in 68 games.
From 2010-12 Ebert scored 17 goals and earned 63 assists for a total of 80 points in 130 games with the Spitfires. The 6-foot-1, 207-pounder defenseman skated in 22 playoff games with the team and posted five points (1g, 4a). In 2010-11 Ebert and the Spitfires went to the semi-final round of the Memorial Cup Playoffs before being eliminated by the Championship-winning Owen Sound Attack.
His first year of junior hockey was spent with the Waterloo Black Hawks of the USHL. He registered 18 points (6g, 12a) with the Black Hawks and appeared in three playoff games.
Ebert will play his first game in Idaho on Friday night and will wear number 9.
