Colten Teubert, C.J. Stretch, Jordan Nolan Record First Pro Goals
Las Vegas, Nev. – The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings, defeated the Las Vegas Wranglers, 7-1, on Saturday evening before 5,394 fans at Orleans Arena. The Reign’s last game of the season saw the first professional goals from rookies Colten Teubert, C.J. Stretch, and Jordan Nolan. Chad Starling scored his first goal of the season, and Geoff Walker and Tim Kraus had three points each.
Colten Teubert scored the first goal of the night and his first professional goal at 6:59 in the opening period. The rookie defenseman received a feed from left wing Chris Curran in front of the crease and chipped the puck over Wranglers netminder Joel Gistedt.
Right wing Geoff Walker made it 2-0 Reign with a slap shot that went stick side on Gistedt at 11:43 with an assist from center Tim Kraus. Greg Hogeboom extended his club’s lead to three goals at 18:32 during a four-on-four shift. Hogeboom redirected a shot from Colten Teubert past Gistedt, and Teubert picked up his second tally of the night with the assist.
Exactly four minutes into the second period, defenseman Mike Egener fired off a slap shot from the slot just inside the blue line during an Ontario power play that Gistedt could not get in front of. Defenseman Andrew Martens notched one of the assists, while Tim Kraus claimed his second helper of the night with the other.
Center C.J. Stretch scored his first professional point in his first professional game and registered the Reign’s fifth unanswered goal at 10:51 in the third period. Stretch broke out of the neutral zone on a two-on-one with Geoff Walker. Walker slid a pass to Stretch, who launched a wrist shot straight into the back of the net.
Las Vegas got on the board at 12:19, with a slap shot from center Justin Bernhardt that crossed the goal line between Reign goaltender Mike Zacharias’ left shoulder and the post. Left wing Kyle Hagel and defenseman Jason Krischuk recorded the assists.
Center Jordan Nolan scored his first professional goal when he pushed the puck ahead of him and squeezed between two Las Vegas players in the neutral zone before firing off a wrist shot that hit twine at 16:38. Nolan’s unassisted goal gave the Reign a 6-1 lead.
Reign defenseman Chad Starling recorded his first goal of the season and added another tally to the board for his club. Geoff Walker and Tim Kraus claimed the assists for their third points of the game. Ontario closed out the 2009 -2010 season with a win in Las Vegas and a final score of Reign 7, Wranglers 1.
