Biography:
Shawn Germain, 25, joins the Reign roster after spending the past two seasons (2006-08) with the Reading Royals playing under Reign Head Coach Karl Taylor. While with the Royals, Germain suited up for 133 games scoring four goals, assisting on 21 others (25 points) and tallying 121 penalty minutes.
Germain was named the Royals Defensive player of the year in each of his two seasons and was the recipient of the Royals Community Service Award in 2006-07. He was also named the HOK Sport ECHL Plus Performer of the Month for December, 2006 after completing the month with a +12 rating in 13 games and at that time led the Royals with a +16 rating on the season. During his time as a Royal, Germain was called up for a one-game stint with the Hersey Bears of the AHL where he tallied two penalty minutes in his stay.
In 2003-04, he skated in 26 games for Grant MacEwen College tallying eight points (1g, 7a) before attending the University of Waterloo in 2004-05 where he was a member of the reviving men’s hockey program led by then-Head Coach Karl Taylor. As a Warrior, Germainplayed in 24 games netting 13 points (1g, 12a) and 12 penalty minutes. That same season, he was nominated as the Sportsmanlike Player of the Year for the West Section of the Ontario University Athletic Conference.
