AHL All-Star Mersch Rejoins Reign Lineup

Jan 15, 2016

The Ontario Reign have announced that Michael Mersch has returned to the team from the LA Kings.

Mersch, 23, leads the Reign with 12 goals and stands fifth on the team with 15 points in 19 games. He was named to the Pacific Division's team for the AHL All-Star Classic earlier this month.

With the Kings, the native of Park Ridge, Illinois skated in 15 games earning one goal and two assists for three points.

"It was a great experience. The speed and pace up there is great. I just get more comfortable," Mersch said in an interview with Reign Insider. "Systems here and there are the same but there’s obviously always some differences, different coaching staff, right? Being here helps transition there a lot. Just trying to mesh with the team and figure out how my game fits into the system up there."

Mersch made his NHL debut on December 11 against the Pittsburgh Penguins and scored his first NHL goal on December 29 against the Edmonton Oilers.
