STORYLINE:
Forward Jonny Brodzinski scored his second career hat trick and forward T.J. Hensick adds three assists in a 4-2 Reign win over the San Jose Barracuda Wednesday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena.
GAME TIMELINE:
- Reign forward Matt Luff picks up his first pro goal 8:08 into the contest knocking a rebound past goaltender Antoine Bibeau. Defenseman Kevin Gravel with an assist.
- Jonny Brodzinski gives the Reign a 2-0 lead late in the first period with a snap shot from the right-wing faceoff circle at 17:03. T.J. Hensick and Alex Lintuniemi with the assist.
- Brodzinski strikes again with 47 seconds left in the period. Hensick adds his second assist. Forward Michael Mersch with other helper.
- San Jose jumps on the scoresheet at 8:41 of the second period and 21 seconds into a power play as Alex True puts the puck past Reign goalie Jack Campbell.
- In the third period, the Barracuda pull the contest within on as Brandon Mashinter slips a shot under Campbell at 11:06.
- Brodzinski completes the hat trick, his second career and fourth in Reign history, with an empty-net goal at 19:08 with help from Hensick.
Notes: Brodzinski also scored the last hat trick for the Reign, in January 2017 at San Antonio. His three-goal performance at home is the first since Adrian Kempe’s hat trick vs. San Diego in November of 2015.
