LA Kings Sign Carl Grundstrom to a Two-Year Contract Extension

LOS ANGELES – The LA Kings have signed forward Carl Grundstrom to a two-year contract extension, according to Vice President and General Manager Rob Blake. The contract carries an average annual value (AAV) of $725,000. The first year of the deal is two-way and the second year is one-way.


The 6-0, 201-pound winger posted four points (0-4=4) and a plus-2 rating in 13 games last season with the Kings. He also appeared in 40 games with the Ontario Reign (AHL) where he recorded 28 points (12-16=28) and a plus-1 rating. Among Reign skaters he ranked second in goals, third in points, tied for fifth in assists and fourth in points per game (.70).


Acquired by the Kings from Toronto on Jan. 28, 2019, the Umea, Sweden native has totaled 10 points (5-5=10) in 28 games over the last two seasons with the Kings. He has also played in 97 games at the AHL level between Ontario and Toronto where he registered 70 points (29-41=70) and a plus-5 rating. His time in the AHL is highlighted by helping the Toronto Marlies with the Calder Cup in 2018, when he posted 14 points (8-6=14) in 20 playoff games.
