The Ontario Reign have announced that forward Michael Mersch has been recalled by the LA Kings.

Mersch, 23, leads the Reign, and currently sits fifth in the AHL, with 12 goals and has 15 points in 19 games this season.

The Park Ridge, Illinois, native has recorded four multi-point games, including three two-goal contests, and buried the first home AHL goal in Inland Empire history on October 23 against the Bakersfield Condors.

Last season, Mersch finished seventh among AHL rookies with 45 points and tied for second with 22 goals in 76 games with the Manchester Monarchs (AHL). He also ranked second among first-year players with 223 shots and fourth with a plus-minus rating of +20.

Mersch went on to lead the AHL in scoring with 22 postseason points (13-9=22) in 18 games during the Monarchs run to capture the Calder Cup Championship.

Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-1, 225-pound forward attended the University of Wisconsin for four seasons grabbing 120 points (67 goals, 53 assists) in 157 games and helped the Badgers win the WCHA championship in 2012-13.
