Reign Celebrate Fan Appreciation Night Tonight

Ontario, CA – The Ontario Reign, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL), host the San Diego Gulls tonight at 7:00 at Citizens Business Bank Arena on Fan Appreciation Night. Tonight is the 11 of 12 regular-season meetings between the two teams.

Reign and Gulls Dance into Postseason:

The Reign and Gulls will face each other in the best-of-five Pacific Division Semifinals starting Friday, April 21. The postseason series marks the second time in as many seasons the two teams have met in the Calder Cup Playoffs. The Reign defeated the Gulls in the best-of-seven Pacific Division Finals last season, 4-1.

SoCal Series:

The Reign are 6-3-1-0 against the Gulls this season and hold an 10-9-2-1 all-time record. All-time, the Reign are 4-4-2-1 against the Gulls at Citizens Business Bank Arena. These two teams met last weekend in another home-and-home series starting on Friday in San Diego with the Reign prevailing 4-0. Shifting up to Ontario, the Reign took the second game, 3-1.

Fast Starts Are Key:

The first period is the best period for both the Reign and Gulls this season. The Reign hold a goal differential of a plus-12 in the opening frame while the Gulls stand at plus-21.

Race to the First Goal:

The team that grabs the game’s opening goal has earned a point in every game in the head-to-head series this season. Ontario is 5-0-1-0 when scoring first in the series. San Diego is 3-0-0-1.

Leading the Way:

Reign forward Jonny Brodzinski leads the head-to-head series with eight points (three goals, five assists) and Reign forward T.J. Hensick leads all skaters in the series with four goals. Forward Corey Tropp leads the Gulls with one goal and four assists for five points.

Flying High:

Gulls forward Kalle Kossila is currently tied for fourth among AHL rookies with 47 points (14 goals, 33 assists).
