Reign Host the Rampage in Sunday Afternoon Family Matinee

Ontario, CA – The Ontario Reign, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL), host the San Antonio Rampage today at 3:00 p.m. PT at Citizens Business Bank Arena. Today is the second of six meetings between the two clubs this season.

It’s Been a While:

The Reign opened the 2017-18 season against the Rampage on Oct. 7 in San Antonio, Texas, falling 2-1. Forward Michael Mersch scored the lone goal for the Reign and goalie Jack Campbell made 30 saves.

Reign are Rolling

The Reign hold seven wins over their last nine contests.

History with the Rampage:

The Reign are 8-2-3-0 all-time against the Rampage and went 4-1-1-0 against their Pacific Division rivals last season.

Petersen Standing Tall:

Reign rookie goaltender Cal Petersen earned his second shutout of the season on Friday, making 23 saves in a 3-0 win over San Jose. He currently leads the AHL with a 1.37 goals-against average. By comparison, Reign netminder Jack Campbell sits 12th in the league with a 2.41 goals-against average.

Crescenzi is Cruising:

Reign forward Andrew Crescenzi rides a three-game point steak (three goals, three assists) into today’s contest. Forward Michael Mersch is also on a three-game point streak with one goal and three assists. Forward Justin Auger holds one goal and two assists over his last two games.

Scouting the Rampage:

The San Antonio Rampage visited the Bakersfield Condors last night, falling 7-3. Today is the final game of a four-game in six-day California road trip for the Rampage and they are currently 1-2-0-0 on the journey. Forward Tage Thompson is tied for eighth among AHL rookies this season with 13 points (seven goals, six assists) and rides a six-game point streak heading into today’s contest (four goals, four assists). Defenseman Jordan Schmaltz is tied for second among blueliners with 15 points (three goals, 12 assists). Forward Andrew Agozzino leads the Rampage overall with 17 points (seven goals, 10 assists).
